Joanne Walker

Over the years I have had various aches and pains - from lower back ache, sciatica, tightness in my hip and a shoulder injury! Sean is always my first port of call - for the professional service he provides and the results he achieves! He has also provided me with some great exercises to do which have kept the issues at bay!

Hip & Pelvis

Pain can come from a tight, strained or overused muscle in the hip or from the joint itself. Pain in the hip can sometimes be the result of an injury, it can be referred from the back or related to the way you move, stand and/or use your hip.

Pain in the hip and pelvic region could be due to simple wear and tear as well as the more commonly know cause, arthritis. Whilst Osteopathy wont cure the effects of arthritis especially when severe/late stage it can be of benefit and ease symptoms by working on tight muscles and restrictions derived from altered mechanics as well as pelvic imbalances from potential acquired leg length discrepancies, which could be coming from lower down in the foot/ankle and or knee too. Leg length discrepancies often are not a problem, unless they are the cause of your pain of course.

Common Hip & Pelvis symptoms

pain, stiffness, aching, pain, locking, swelling, limping and difficulty fully straightening or bending the knee.

Common Hip Conditions that we see in clinic include

  • Piriformis Syndrome
  • Groin / Adductor Strain
  • Hamstring Strain – yes it’s a hip and Knee muscle!
  • Hip Bursitis
  • Hip Osteoarthritis
  • Snapping hip syndrome
  • Labral dysfunction
  • Psoas Tendinopathy
  • Adductor Tendinopathy
  • Gluteal Tendinopathy

The 360 degree approach

We may also offer advice on your lifestyle. Particularly if we feel something you are doing repetitively is part of the reason why you have shoulder pain. We can offer advice on your posture and give advice on diet and exercise or give you specific exercises in order to maintain complete Body Balance.

It’s a simple process really. The ultimate aim is for us to make getting better less confusing for you.

With the benefit of time we promise:

To Listen

We promise to go beyond the normal 10 minute case history
Our Appointments are structured to allow more time to do so. Often the Diagnosis is in the history so it’s a important part of the process to listen to you.
