Rob Smith.

Sean explained about the recovery process and how it could get worse before improving- which it did, but 4 days later i'm headache free.

The neck is a very mobile structure and very strong one too! It supports the head which weighs an impressive 1/7th of our total body weight. Head and Neck pain could arise for a number of reasons. More often than not its due to the large number of muscles ligaments, joints and nerves.

More often than not it’s a simple mechanical issue. Often people present to us with neck pain due to:

  • Postural compensations and/or adaptations from being desk bound all day.
  • Traumatic accidents such as road traffic accidents (whiplash)
  • Sports injuries
  • Joint restriction
  • Muscle spasms
  • Shoulder issues
  • Headaches due to neck dysfunctions are also a common reason why patients will visit us.

So what causes these problems in the neck?

It is often caused by upper back or neck disturbance which can cause ‘pressure’ on nerves which are reflected into the neck, back of the skull or even to the tops and sides of the head.

What can be done about it?

We will examine these areas thoroughly seeking to find the root cause of your Head and neck pain.

What does treatment involve?

Soft tissue’s such as muscles and ligaments may need work or sometime small joints in the neck will need mobilising being an effective treatment.

How many treatments will you need?

The number of treatments will depend on the severity and length of time that you have had your symptoms.

Common neck Conditions that we see in clinic include

  • Cervical Sprain/ Strain
  • Cervical Spondylosis
  • Cervical Facet Joint injury
  • Cervical Radiculopathy
  • Discogenic Pain
  • Cervicogenic Headaches
  • Tension Headaches
