About Body Balance Clinic

Body Balance is a multidisciplinary practice situated in St Albans Hertfordshire, founded in 2015.

We believe that everyone can live a healthy happy and pain free life and its that belief on which body balance clinic was started. We use benefits of hand on treatment in conjunction with evidence based exercise rehabilitation and developed a unique approach to recovery. It is essential to get the balance between our mind and body right. In practice that often means reducing pain, and finding strategies to prevent potential injury reoccurring from doing sport, from work or just day-to-day activities.

At the core of our mission, is to be able to educate as many people as possible that pain and injury doesn’t mean you have it forever, or have to stop you doing your favourite activity or limit the potential to reach your goals. Teaching you to self manage is our Goal, which in turn will help you reach yours

About our founder:

Sean Walker

Sean’s interest in the body started at the age of 17 when he had a very bad rugby injury to his hamstring. It was badly managed and nothing was explained or even really done to help rehabilitate him. This battle inspired Sean to look into what was happening and how best to manage it himself. This is where Sean’s thirst for knowledge and information about the body really started to grow. Sean noticed that in order to get better he was going to have to self manage the issue as best as he could. Suffice to say the research didn’t stop. The interest grew and Sean didn’t want anyone to have to go through what he did, for what was actually a relatively easy thing to manage, if acted on. He was treated locally by an Osteopath who inspired him to become one himself! Sean embarked on his undergraduate degree knowing full well that one day he would provide a service where people get 360 degree approach when pained by injury.

Regulation of osteopathy

All osteopaths in the UK are regulated by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).

Osteopaths are required to renew their registration each year and the General Osteopathic Council provide registrants with an annual licence to practise. As part of this process, the GOsC checks that osteopaths have current professional indemnity insurance, remain in good health and of good character, and have met mandatory continuing professional development requirements.

Protection of title

The title ‘osteopath’ is protected by law. It is against the law for anyone to call themselves an osteopath unless they are registered with the GOsC, which sets and promotes high standards of competency, conduct and safety.
